suspension warning light

so to all you teckies out there need a bit of advice
suspension warning light comes on, on my D3 2006 SE sometimes
switching of and removing and then ket in reastart in again vanished
a mechanic at a garage is blaming the bushs in the wishbones as they have to much play
is this possible as they are looking at replacing steering track rod parys and wishbones and the bushs
all for a lovely price of £659
now the price made the plums shrink a bit but if its genuine i would pay it

so any tips would be good

ps i was shown the underside on a ramp and the bushs do have play but it doesnt seem to be extreme
but if they need done i can supply him bushs any one recommend where i can find some proper heavy duty ones that will take a thrashing and keep on going

many thanks

Scotland 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Get the RRS ones from Advanced factors,
Full kit around £200 ish for the arms and all bolts.
Disco Mikey did my front lower ones last week, then I had to get a " laser wheel alignment"
Stopped the knocking and handles better

While on the ramp also check the play in wheel bearings.

Thumbs Up

Ps wheels getting collected today Thumbs Up

Replacing your suspension components will not prevent the suspension warning light from coming on (but it will definitely improve the handling). You ideally need your fault codes reading but I suspect this is related to the original Hitachi compressor (assuming you still have the original Hitachi compressor fitted).

Your mechanic is right; you should replace the steering arms at the same time (to rule out any movement in the ball joints).

Talk to Steve at Advanced Factors about your lower arms. He has some great kits - including bolts - with a fantastic warranty and very fair price.

You can buy Lemforder bushes on their own, but you should also replace the lower ball joint at the same time. That's why it's almost cheaper to buy new arms than press new bushes in and replace the ball joints.

If you are paying labour to replace the bushes, then it certainly works out cheaper to replace the complete arm Thumbs Up
