ESF & SPO fault
Hi,
I get ESF or SPO (limp mode) when doing around 50mph going up hill. Have had the turbo checked and MAF sensor changed ( was reading low) by local landrover garage. Any ideas on what to attack next?
Was that parts darts or was there some inkling - what fault codes were/are stored?
Is there black smoke? Have the turbo hoses and intercooler been checked for splits/de-lamination etc.?
When was the fuel filter last changed and was it OE/genuine?

turbo and pipes tested by local dealer, said he had pressurised so assume hoses ok. actuator and VV's all working as they should (his words) no dark smoke.
sorry can't remember codes but text referred to MAP sensor and MAF sensor. Was serviced about a month ago when I bought it, don't know if its a genuine filter. she's a 07 plate with 29K on the clock.
Did they check live data from the MAF and MAP sensors?Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

hi,
I assume they would have to determine that the MAF was reading low, but then am I assuming too much?
It sounds like a boost issue of some kind, but it also sounds like they've looked into the various factors, so it may be back to square one and they've got something wrong. Without the specific codes etc., it's hard to identify any further.
It sounds to me quite like the turbo actuator sticking, and as a low mileage vehicle it would be a prime candidate.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

that was my thoughts initially, given the mileage, but they apparently have checked all that. fingers crossed they can sort it out this time

Depending on where in Hampshire you are, I'm happy to read your fault codes for you.
Your mileage is about 100k short, btw, for an 07.

hi Steve,
thanks, she's in the garage at present, hopefully being fixed. That was one of the reasons I bought her the mileage being so low, hopefully not a mistake.

UPDATE
Hi,
It was the turbo!! thankfully the warranty company agreed to pay most of it. back on the road and going well.
Was it the actual turbo, or just the actuator?Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

According to the garage it was the turbo. The vanes on one side weren't opening and closing enough.
