Rear wiper will not stop
Can any body help with my rear wiper on a 05 discovery 3?
My rear wiper has started working all by its self, the car was parked on the drive and my wife noticed that the rear wiper was running. The car hasn't been moved for a couple of days but I did switch on the ignition to check the SRS light (which is also playing up intermittently) it was OK!. I disconnected the battery to stop it but on reconnection it started again, non of the other methods that would normally stop the wiper works either (opening tail gate, starting engine, switching it off, key out) I have now pulled the relay.
Now just to add insult to injury the amber parking brake warning light is on!!, and the parking brake doesn't come on automatically when the key is removed, but the parking brake itself does seem to operate correctly with the lever.
Please tell me it's common and easy to fix.
I have now purchased a Hawkeye Diagnostic tool, still waiting for an adaptor for the body module but on checking the EPB fault codes I have this, "C1A55 Ignition switch input circuit signal plausibility", what does this mean in English (I'm assuming it's a poor connection) and why should this affect the park brake?

Sounds like a wiring fault somewhere. Given the EPB problem I would start looking at the wiring in RH rear wheel arch. It could also be a CJB issue so check for water ingress and see if the CJB is triggering the wiper rather than a short to power elsewhere.
Time to reach for your multimeter.

I've got an my05 D3 which about a week ago it developed same problem. The rear wiper just won't stop running one I turn the ignition key, it carries on running on slow interval setting.
It just started all of a sudden. Had taken the car to dispose of some household items to local recycling yard.
Car was switched off ŵith tailgate open as I unloaded the car, I had my little boy with who was sitting in the drivers seat while unloaded. Now being a typical 4 yr old he busied himself with the controls whilst I beavered away.
When finished and got back in the car and started the car up, the rear wiper came on straightaway (now it does this all the time as soon as switch ignition on rear wiper starts running). When I tried pushing the control stalk back to off position it would not go back any further...as if it is already in the off position.
But when I pulled it forward it would go into the continuous rear wiper + rear washer operation and it will stay there until I push it back to the interval position???.....seems I can no longer push it back to off position...

If the stalk switch has been broken you will have to buy and fit a new one. They are easy to fit and as some have updated their stalks to the later style you will find pictures on here and perhaps an old stalk going spare.

I had the same problem on my 2005 d3 , it thought I would need to replace the stalk but I read somewhere if you spray some wd 40 down the stalk it cleans the contacts and stops them from sticking. Well I did a quick 3 second spray and everything went back to normal . Never had any more problems for the last 3 years with that.Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 S 7 seat Automatic

Thanks Robbie...but the stalk does not appear to be broken...at least from the outside. It still moves between on off except that when it is in the off position the wiper runs as per interval operation
And when it is in on position..(interval operation) both the wiper and washer run continously as if the the stalk is being pulled forward toward yourself when running the washers + wiper???
I will try Lanscombes suggestion and let you know...if that fails the a new stalk???

Cellerdweller I may have to take that stalk off ya..but let's wait n see..pm a price just in case I do need it

Rear Wiper problem
Just though I would bring this up to date, fixed after spending a "mere" £2840.
It would seem it was a problem with the fuse board, it shorted out internally and the heat caused damage to the loom connector requiring a loom repair. Of course it doesn't end there the loom was repaired and the fuse board replaced, the fuse board requires to be programmed to the vehicle, but f**king Land Rover had "Lost" the required information to reprogram the fuse board.
This resulted in an engine management ECU being required also.
At this point I now had a running Discovery, however the suspension wouldn't raise this was due to electrical damage to the door catches, causing the system not to recognise that the doors were closed, after replacing all the door catches and the tailgate switch, all was working.
So all in all a nice simple problem (should have left it to burn).

I also had the same problem occasionally (2 times per year), but it just goes away by itself after a couple of minutes

mine's just started doing this, it happened after I did a wash cycle on the rear window.
what is strange is that it stopped doing this for a about a week. then I made the mistake of washing the rea window and now it's not stopping.--

Hi naks mine had same problem was constant for weeks then working as normal for a week or two purchased new stalk (eBay) easy to fit and cured the problem hope that helpsif it aint broke dont fix it
