Interior lights at night
Does anyone have a pic (or fancy taking a video or pic) of the interior lights at night. I want to see how well illuminated a d4 is at night when the doors are open as we often travel with the kids at night.

Do a search on interior lights / LED's - there have been several threads about replacing the standard bulbs together with lots of images... .

Seriously though they are quite dim, but can be upgraded with LED bulbs

Couldn't see any threads for the D4. Lots for the d3. Is it the same lighting? No footwell lights in rear?

The front seat and middle seat light clusters consist of three light units each; two outer "reading" lights which can be switched on individually and a middle light which will illuminate when any door is opened or when switched on manually.
I have replaced the centre lights with LEDs but I have left the reading lights with their original lamps.
You can see the difference here
This is what it looks like with the centre lamps illuminated when a door is opened. Plenty bright in my opinion.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys it's a big help. I'm trying to weigh up going with a disco4 vs a Range Rover sport. Strangely I think the disco is winning on sheer family practicality and cost!!

If you want a big practical family wagon then the Disco should be your first choice. My one got its first trip to the tip today, loaded with old flat pack furniture. You can't beat it as a bus, van tow car you name it the Disco can do it.
If you fit LEDs from Advanced Factors, trust me, you won't need lights on the floor.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I've got some Led panels from hids4u, which were available before the AF ones. Some people have tried both and claim the AF ones are brighter, I've not, so cannot comment other than the led panels I have make it like daylight in the car Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Are the LEDs from AF a straight swap?

yes - the panels from hids4u and the bulbs from AF are straight swaps. The bulbs are just an LED equivalent. the panels have a little fly-wire you use to connect to the light connector and then they sit in the bulb holder.
Either way you don't need to do any modifications to install these - easy, 10m job to replace the lot. Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

I think its pretty bright enough with standard lights
Easy enough to read at night (and my eyesight has long past 20/20)
Cant comment on other D4 specs but the HSE (MY10 in my case) has got led's on the interior door handles and also in the door bins that help
Easy enough to change to all leds if you wish - did that in my D3 - very bright then
Puddle lights also good - I swapped mine to ones that project 'Land Rover' - which one kid thinks is cool, the other naff
