Hi everyone,
my wifes d3 hse (2009) battery warning light came on earlier. Couple of questions if anyone can help.
1. what sort of cost should a replacement battery and or alternator cost both supplied and fitted.
2. what are the chances of her driving 10 miles to local auto electrician (a1 landrover -bury)
3. anyone recommend an auto electrician/mechanic in the royton/oldham area who could look at the motor pls, if you doubt/advise she will get that far to Bury.
Appreciate a lot of ifs and buts, any help/advice appreciated.
thanks

Hi nw:
Quote:1. what sort of cost should a replacement battery and or alternator cost both supplied and fitted.
£200 - £250 for an alternator from AF:

Battery, no idea, but probably looking at £140ish - But battery could still be ok

NO.....It could go and if your battery is still ok, then could take the battery with it

Sorry, no idea on this one Iggy/Ieuan

If she has breakdown cover, get them out to check if it's the battery or alternator.
If it's a battery then the recommended one on here is an Exide from Tayna. A search should give you lik and a discount code. Less than £90 delivered. Very good battery, I got one recently.

Breakdown just checked the car and its the altenator (thanks JMac). So off to local indy tomorrow.
Iguana (thank you) thinks new altenator will cost £200 -250 but what should the labour cost?
thanks

Thanks Bodsy. So with my best guess labour should be no more than £100. Or I'm costing it on 80's hourly rates.
cheers

Big thumbs up to A1 Landrover in Bury. Supplied and fitted new altenator what seems good price to me.
