Help diagnosing faulty fuel gauge
Symptoms:
Fuel gauge reading 1/2
Stopped for dinner, on restarting fuel gauge now reading 3/4
Fuel gauge continued to drop from 3/4 in line with number of miles (150+) until it got to 1/2
Decided to fill-up to brim and it took 69 litres so obviously reading incorrect at 1/2 before fill-up
Fuel gauge now reads full which is correct but no can't trust it so any idea which component is faulty? SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Could be one of the sensors but wiring faults are more common, especially behind the front right wheel arch liner.
