Main dealer waiting times |
|
So I've had my D4 for a couple of months now and have a bit of a gripe with the local dealer. One of the 2nd row vents was broken, I reported it and they said it would be replaced with no issue, however I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment. Not the end of the world so I just waited, in the end it took 5-10 minutes to do the job.
Next I have a leaking panoramic roof during heavy rain, a couple of drops on a 2nd row seat but small puddles on the rear-cargo cover. It isn't in the vin range with problematic roofs but still in warranty so they are going to look at it, only thing is the wait is 4 weeks this time. Not a big deal but what happens when the car actually breaks? 1-2 months before they even look at it?
I asked the dealer what would happen and they were very evasive, I assumed as my jobs were low priority I was being shunted to the back of queue but possibly not. This leads to the following questions
1. Is this representative? My nearest dealer is Carlisle, after that 40-50 miles away so not a lot of competition.
2. Is my dealer seriously understaffed and giving a bad service?
3. Are LR vehicles as bad as their reputation suggests so always breaking down and dealers can't keep up?

Personally I'd be doing the extra miles and taking it elsewhere. Not ideal but quicker in the long run.

Find a better dealer, even if it less convenient.

Is that Lloyd's? If so I would find a different dealer, I know it's a fair drive away but team valley land rover in Gateshead are brilliant
Take it there and have a day in the metro centre with your Good lady Cheers Ian

Yes Lloyds, they are very friendly but the waiting times are ridiculous. Dreading it actually breaking down, I've never experienced anything like this before but then I haven't had a Land Rover before so didn't know if it was standard.

A good dealer will bend over backwards to help you, certainly mine does whether it's a quick job or a major emergency. Mine will move corporate jobs around to fit me in, they must love my car!! Gratuitous plug for Guava.
Looks like they run the "if the computer says no then it's no" system. They have a captive market up there so don't care about customers as long as the diary is full. Get suggestions for better dealers would be my advice.

If I got as much money from you/WD as Guava did, I would bend over backwards too My D3 Build Thread

@DM I think it's been suggested many, many times that you move down here.

Can't complain about Pentland Cupar, my ones going in on Friday morning to investigate a creak/knock from the rear. They are pretty busy this week so have arranged for a mechanic to come out on a test drive with hopefully a fix the next week. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
