is my compressor foobard

Hi all! I got the yellow suspension warning with the ride height only message and after a quick search on here and a check of the compressor soon found it was the hairline crack leak on the dryer cap. so new one ordered and fitted, only to find now that the rear suspension works fine and as it should, however the front takes ages and i get the slow suspension raising message Banging Head (although the front works perfectly the first time after the car has had a rest).
So this time i took the compressor out and cleaned it found a little corrosion but on the whole not in bad condition, the o rings are still all intact apart from the one on the piston side cap which some Muppet has replaced with a silicone sealant.
Anyway sorted that and refitted but now a very slow suspension raise all round and the suspension will raise when cooled warning and the compressor is very hot Big Cry
So now removed, checked over (to make sure i haven't missed anything) pipes checked etc and refitted.
Now raising slowly again but no cooling warning so a little bonus there!

Anyone got any ideas or has my compressor reached the end of its life?

Sorry but i have no fault codes and i have no reader.

Also does anyone know where to get a reasonably priced compressor from new or used?

Ta Muchly!
