EPB random fault

So here's how it goes

Drive every day, no issues at all. EPB works as it should, no warnings and no problems.

Leave the car parked (brake off) and the next time you drive a warning appears "EPB fault" and promptly disappears. No record in the fault history, no problems with the brake itself, but you could set you watch by the message appearing.

It's not on start up, but always appears within a mile of driving off and doesn't come back unless parked for more than a couple of days....

Obviously not too concerned, but totally intrigued as to what is going on here, anyone else seen this?

According to the on board diagnostics 14.5V

Do you think it's worth doing a direct check at the battery with a multimeter?

You need a proper voltmeter, the onboard diagnostic voltage is hopeless.

Yes, very much so - the diagnostics screen is very inaccurate. In truth, sometimes it could take even more than a basic multimeter to diagnose a bad alternator! Exclamation

Im not worried about the alternator, as it was a replacement supplied and fitted by Disco Mikey, so assume the issue lies elsewhere.

Just bemused that it doesn't appear in the fault history, but keeps reappearing, albeit briefly, as regular as clockwork....

If Mikey fitted it then we can be sure it's OE, but never rule things out without checking. You can get the odd faulty alternator out of the box. Thumbs Up
