I just did a hard reset but that did not solve the issue.

I then fiddled with the control stalk a bit and all of a sudden it stopped.

Nags, I think you're right, a new control stalk is needed. It's going to the stealer for lower control arm bushes on Wednesday, will ask them to replace it since it's still on the service plan. --
