Suspension bushes - advice on cost please!
Hi all,
So wheel bearing replaced today - thankfully covered by AA breakdown insurance
Local Indy than says - you know that dealer told you that the bushes were starting to deteriorate
Well there knackered!!!
Not able to tackle any job on the discovery other than clean it
I ask for a price!
Replace lower Bushes with super pro bushes
New ball joints
Odds & sods - bolts etc.
Plus full 4 wheel alignment
£600
Not being any good with tools or having the time
Is that a good price?
Looking forward to the words of wisdom.

Was that split into parts/labour?
You could buy new arms from Steve at Advanced Factors - which come complete with bushes and new ball joints - and the bolt kits and just get them to swap and carry out the alignment.
Using new arms should save some labour time of pressing out bushes and ball joints too.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks
Looked at and email sent to Indy to see if he'd be happy with the suggestions.
I guess win/ win for me but obviously he may loose out on labour.
Wish I had taken a slightly different career path
And knew which end of a spanner to hold.
But either way SWMBO loves the car and that means I get a little less earache! Learning everyday!

Feel your pain...
I too had my front wheel bearing changed this past week and also covered by AA Breakdown Repair Cover
Although my local indy came back with a long list of things needing doing
Both Upper & Lower Rear Arms
New EPB Shoes and Adjuster
New Front & Rear Discs & Pads
Disco is driving like a dream now but might be because my pockets are empty
My advice, change the arms - the saving of buying the bushes is minimal when you factor in the time/labour involved fitting them
