Hi All new to the site and hope you can help .
2005 v6 td , 213000kms ,the engine has been running great with no issues , just been serviced in the last 3 weeks. The engine has burnt all the engine oil and caused bearing failure to the crank ( severely knocking) . The engine still starts albeit rough with new oil in , the oil pressure light goes out as it should on start up . No other dash warning lights have come on .
Going to start to strip it down to see if i can find the cause AS I BELIEVE THE BEARING FAILURE IS THE RESULT .
Has anybody come across anything similar ???
Any pointers would be great as its a bit of a mystery

Started the strip down today , its all looking like the oil seals in the turbo have gone totaling the engine due to lack of oil. Now next question is , can the engine be removed without lifting the body ??The new owners continued to drive it with excess smoke with the result above .

That's odd normally when that happens the engine over revs and goes bang. Tends to be lots of smoke as well. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone

Not always the case we had lots and lots of trucks whos turbos failed, truck picked it up as it lost boost pressure and put the MIL lamp on, filled number 6 with oil, bent the rod, and filled the scr cat with oil, very expensive to fix!
No revs no smoke just catastrophic failure

I agree , i used to build and test commercial engines . I have seen first hand an engine screaming on engine oil and no way to stop it . Many a time the exhaust or inlet pipes have been filled with oil .
Thanks from the Alps
