Auto Box Gear Knob / Selector
Hi All
Daft question but my 'knob' twists 45 degrees to the left (good trick if you can do it )....it seems loose but works fine. It's only really annoying when I shift across to manual selection.
I've removed the 'knob' and checked the plastic pipe and all seems fine. Is this how it's designed? Surely there shouldn't be that much play in it?

Had this with my D3 when I got it, now here's a whole world of double-entendre:
First pull the knob off, get a firm hold of it & pull up - it's stiff but it will come off (watch you don't hit yourself in the face when it comes off). If you then look down along the white shaft is, there should be a 'castlated' collar deep inside, that slots nicely onto the end of the shaft from the box. This is most likely worn though by someone twisting it too much, hence the knob can turn on the shaft. Only way to get a knob that stays where you want it is to get a new one. I got one from Yeovil in TLO's day, but I'm sure any of the dealers on here can get you one. From memory it wasn't too expensive.
I did warn you
