To answer an email regarding checking and airing the spare with a security plate fitted.

What trim have you used around the protector ?

It's just standard reinforced edge trim but the cheap plastic 'U' edging would also be good enough to stop the plate scratching the wheel.

Yep, the rust is pretty horrible on the plate. I would probably have to get the wire wheel / flap wheel on it before painting with Hammerite.

Ebay has alsorts of shapes and sizes as they are frequently used on commercial vehicles.

Boiler spares stockists should have them, as they're frequently used to check the pressure on expansion vessels

The one I had on my D3 had a 135 deg angle on the end, which was a bit better than the one I am using on the D4.
