2008 LR3
I went onto the Land Rover USA website and noticed that you can now build and price the car. I noticed that there were only two choices for trim, which were SE and HSE, both with the 4.4 V8. Is the 4.0 V6 discontinued?Because if it is that would be a really stupid move for Land Rover cause I see the V6 model everywhere, and I think they sell more V6s. Also, for the SE V8, I saw the new 18 wheels................................ they were HORRIBLE!
They look like base Cayenne wheels, and they look iffy on they sleek and rounded Cayenne but look hideous on the LR3.
I love my LR3 and I suspect that prices have gone up and I just think that the older ones were just WAY better.

Don't think these are new 18" wheels as they are the US 10 spoke SE wheels, also known in UK as Style 2! They are the same as the ones shown in a 2004 LR3 brochure that I have.
Wheels like color (colour ) are, in my opinion, a personal like or dislike! My XS will have style 2's, but I also have a set of 17".
I understand that the V6 was discontinued in USA from MY08!Discovery 3 XS Auto, Stornaway, Active rear diff.

Martin, they are a new style, from 07MY on. Both of the original 18" wheels are no longer available.
I think these ones, style 2, actually look quite good, but I can't say the same about the new style 1s!IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

You are right , looking at the LR web site I now see that these wheels have a raised edge although similar in appearance to the previous type 2's
The spec on the same site for my XS is still saying 18 inch "style 1" alloy wheels, so any idea what I will get, I hope the 5 spoke!Discovery 3 XS Auto, Stornaway, Active rear diff.

ISTR at MY07 the Type 2's gained a dished depression the length of each spoke and Type 1's gained a slice right down the middle of the fat spoke turning each spoke into 2 parallel spokes (and thus effectively 10 spokes too)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Type 1 looked better with the original styles, I think type 2 looks better with the new ones thoughThe End

No more V6? Glad I got one already. I wonder if they are doing this to get a better price separation between the LR2 and LR3. Oh, wait, I know. They're going to introduce the TDV6 to the US. Pause. NOT!

Erm, Martin, where exactly did you see the D3-TDV8-part?
I'm not native English, but the only thing I read is a TDV8 FFRR going to the States...
Edit: OK, sorry... You were simply referring to ANY TDV8 going to the States...

the older 5 "flat" spoke 18" rims are still available through the dealers in the US for anyone here looking to have another tire set. I agree that the "new" 10 spokes with the concave spokes seem rather weird. Thusly, I have 4 of the 5 spokes and a need to sell the damn 5th rim spare that is the 10 spoke version MY07 10 spoke, not 05/06 which look fine.96 Disco I, 210,000 miles - still going strong

I take back what I said. I went to the dealership to do the service maintenence and there were 10 or 15 2008 LR3s, all SEs. They look great in person, and I take back everything I said.
Sorry about that!

picture of new 18 inch SE wheels
This isn't an "american" LR3, but it is the same wheel.
