Finally received mail from Garmin, however, they only stated my satnav was compatible with ecoroute and not the mechanic  Discovery3 TDV6 GS

Garmin mechanic is an app for your phone. The ecoroute will work with your Garmin sat nav unit and performs the same functions, fault code reader and re-setter, fuel consumption, live electronic instruments/dials etc.
