never been green laneing or off roading |
|
Had my Disco 3 for a month or so and love it apart from launching my mates boat and nearly getting stuck on the steep pebble beach I have never been off road but would love to see what this car can do, I will be honest I don't want to damage the car in any way so if anyone can point me in the right direction either via off road tuition or green laning that would be great I live in Leicestershire but also have a static on a farm in north Wales it would be great to see what she can do.

I also live in Hinckley and have never taken mine off road either.
Would not mind having a go, maybe we could arrange to do something together.

Watch any lanes as this time of year they will be well grown over and almost certain damage to car as the bushes hide the larger branches.

An Off Road day at Yarwell will give you a *reasonably* safe place to try and test your vehicles out, just keep an eye on what other people are doing.
Dont do what I did and run in to the front of a brand new D4 when we were both cresting a large hill from opposite sides 2014 D4 XS

GLASS in Yorkshire are piloting "New to Laning" training days. There's a couple of dates coming up on 22nd August and 7th November.
The courses are held at Askham Bryan College near York and run by Yorkshire 4x4 Specialists. I'm not sure if you need to be a GLASS member or whether the courses are also available to non-members but I can get you the contact details if you want to find out more. I don't intend to do much in this I would just like to see what a d3 can do so if I am ever in the situation where I need to use its full capabilities I don't end up looking like a complete you know what, like when I launched my mates boat and forgot to put it in low box I set off and dug myself deep into the steep pebbles on the beach, I can't remember which setting I used but the car resembled one of those yank cars that bounce around as it bounced on opposite ends all the way up the slope and out of the mess I had got myself into, I was very impressed with what the car did but in all honestly if it wasn't full of tricks I would have been stuck on sure of it.
For this reason I would like some basic knowledge of what to do if I get in that situation again

The training day for £50 in your own car at Rockingham will cover all that you need, and they drive new vehicles around there all day so pretty sure it is no damaging. The only bit I would ask to avoid is the deep water crossing as I would only take my D3 through water if I had to. D3 Tonga HSE 2005
