Thanks for the extra pics and feedback.

DaveT, d4 pics would be great. Fundamentally the same process, but pad shape is different istr.
Are the pads held in by pins like the brembos on a d4 front?

One more thing, to do a brake fluid change, how much does the system take? Would be useful to know how much is the minimum we need to fill the system in the fluid change section

One issue I have had is that a standard Halfords Professional/Advanced 15mm spanner is too fat to hold the caliper slider thingy

A bicycle wheel cone spanner is much thinner and works just fine for the low torque required on the slides Wink

I have a cheapo thin profile Silverline eBay specials in 15 and 17mm for the slider pins. I think they were only £2 or so including delivery.

Maybe show a picture or recommend a 4mm hex key to use for the epb procedure, I bought two and they were both too short. Also how about a quick reference part at the top of each section stating the torque settings, so if your familiar with the job you don't need to keep searching out the torque settings. I made a list like this on my phone when I was familiar with the job.

Front Brakes

21mm Bi-Hex Socket, calliper carrier bolts, 275Nm, thread lock.
13mm Socket, calliper bolts, 35Nm, thread lock.
T50 Socket, T50 screw, 35Nm, no thread lock.

It's a great document as it is and without it I'd have never cleaned and reset my EPB Bow down

You can afford a generous amount of copperslip on the T50 fastener and the book torque is a little too high in my opinion - 25 Nm is plenty to keep it snugged-up without taking any load.

It is a great document and I still use it.

The torx screw torque has been reduced by Lr to 25nm (may be 20nm, just going from memory. ) Thumbs Up

Keep the feedback coming. Thumbs Up

I've just looked it up and I'm already out of date, the torx screw is now just 16Nm - cannot argue with that.

Q. What order so I need to bleed the brakes in
A. from the furthest away from the brake cyclinder, so for RH drive vehicles, that's passenger side rear, drivers side rear, passenger side front, drivers side front

Isn't always like that, no matter where the steering wheel is? Wink

Thanks for this how-to, i just used it Over the weekend. One stupid thing i done was on an automatic, i left it in park, removed the rear wheel and then the brake caliper and pads. Then i could not take it out of park to rotate the wheel to align hole for parking brake adjuster. You could have the parking brake release steps before the caliper removal it would prevent this little issue maybe. Or make reference to putting it in neutral before removing caliper for automatics.

good point, especially for a 2012 MY and later Whistle Is it the red lever you pull to be able to select neutral

Just turn the ignition on, press the brake pedal and move it out of park, turn ignition off - you can't remove the key - but it ain't going anywhere Thumbs Up
