Air suspension damage
Hi all,
Ive just a made a stupid mistake on my D3 and jacked the rear up in the wrong place (new born child 5 days ago and no sleep is my excuse!). I jacked it up on the black plastic cowling next to the sill, which had a perfect sized hole and contour for the jack and I didn't see the warning symbol on the plastic due to mud. Something gave as I started jacking and now the suspension makes a funny noise and is blowing what looks like sand out from that plastic.
Anyone know what this component is and is it safe to drive to a dealer to get it fixed??
Thanks for the help!
PS - yes I know - what a pillark I am!!!!

Black plastic is the cover for the compressor which is situated above! You may well have broken the bracket and possibly a hose/fitting hence the noise. If the car raises and holds at normal suspension height would be ok to drive to get it checked properly but as close as possible!

If it stays up I would be minded to pull the fuse before the journey.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Thanks all.
I've booked it in to a dealer but they can't look at it for 2 weeks and with a new born I need to drive it. The dealer said it should be ok but when I drove it last night there was a real rumbling sound (almost like a blowing exhaust). The seems to stay up ok, although it had dropped right down in the morning when I went out to it, but lifted straight up again when I started it.
What do we reckon??

If you can get down to Herts try Zippy at G+G Automotive or try Alymer Motors
both good indy landrover dealers who i am sure would help out quicker than two weeksJames favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
