Fitted new switch from AF cheers Steve Thumbs Up

Lets hope that the problem is sorted out now.

BTW. The standard alarm db's are feeble. Anyone know if it runs off internal batteries or from the main battery?

Difference between original and replacement bonnet catch.

Has anyone had problems replacing the bonnet catch with the new modified one from Advanced Factors? I tried to do mine at the weekend but the cable pull on the new one is in a different place, it only give 5mm movement whereas the old one is about 20mm. It just doesn't seem right. Should I just go with it or will I risk not being able to open the bonnet once it's done?

I found my cable was too long & I thought it would not release the bonnet, but it did Very Happy

The new switch didn't solve the alarm activation though. It needs more investigation Big Cry

Thanks. My concern was the bonnet release as the cable does look too long.

I'll give it a go later. Fingers crossed I can open the bonnet and it fixes the alarm. Very Happy
Good luck with your alarm.

I'd test it with the bonnet open, rather than slamming shut the actual bonnet.

Good idea. I forgot to mention I used a sawn off bolt to test the release first. Rolling Eyes

Is the AF an easy change to do (based on the fact I'm crap with a spanner?)

A simple job to do but before you start removing the bonnet release bracket, ensure you mark its position with a pencil or such like so that once you've fitted the new switch, the brackets go back in the same position Thumbs Up

Our alarm is still going off randomly Big Cry

Kentdale want £80 + vat just to tell me which sensor is being triggered Evil or Very Mad

If its a the bonnet catchup they have said that you would also get a bonnet open warning whilst driving which we have never seen.

So I am still safe in replacing the bonnet catchup and going against this advice??

I had an issue with the bonnet catch and had the bonnet open message, and a loose bonnet Surprised a couple of times.
After adjusting the catch slightly I then had no messages or problems for a few weeks, then I had the alarm going off randomly.

Short out the pins on the plug that goes to the switch and see if that cures the alarm issue.
It did for me, so I bought a new switch (and catch as a complete new unit) fitted them and haven't had either issue since.

Thumbs Up

Just a thought.....

There are two rubbers which are dampers for the bonnet when it's closed. It was always a Censored on mine when closing the bonnet where it had to be slammed shut.
By rotating these two rubbers, you can make fine adjustments so that the bonnet shuts (by putting your weight on the front edge, without slamming it) This will make the catches locate properly with the loopes.

Worth a try I think as it's simple Thumbs Up

I have the problem on mine and its with the car wakening up thinking the keys are in the ignition.

Very annoying and have to tap the barrel when I leave the car to stop the bonging.
