Hi all just a quick one ,? Are the pads on a D4 of similar ease to replace as the D3? Is there a bible for these aswell?

I believe they look the same, just a bit bigger, I'm still on my originals at 35K, but getting near to replacement so well impressed. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

process is exactly the same as D3 - just bigger and twice the price (if genuine LR pads used)

Older - D3 TDV6 XS Auto - Lugano Teal with Almond Leather, 20" Stormers, Shiny Tailpipes, DVD/TV - and obligatory D3 sticker

I have just done mine (D4 MY12) and followed Bodsy's brake bible (written for the D3 but same process for D4)
I went for Mintex pads (Same manufacturer as LR parts but cheaper)
Easiest brake pad change I have done

The bible says to use a calliper retraction tool or suitable home made device. What are people using? I don't mind buying the right tool for the job if it makes things easier. Or are people just using something simple and cheap?

Big enough G clamp or similar will do the job on front brakes.

I use something very similar when I do it - work fine. TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)
TDV6 HSE (2006MY - owned for 9 years and 150,000! - now replaced)
