Would a faulty EGR valve cause stalling?
Hello all, firstly, my apologies if this topic has been answered many times over, but I'm a Disco 3 newbie in terms of the car and the forum...but... Last week the engine management light came on, I stopped by a garage and the fault was diagnosed as the left hand EGR valve. It's booked in to be replaced in the coming days ... Nothing too unusual about that from scanning the topics... But... This morning, the car stalled on cold start up and low speed, and refused to start again for about ten minutes - it then did start again and stalled a couple more times until the engine warmed up... Could this be related to the EGR valve??
It's probably worth noting that about two weeks previous, the car had a new throttle pedal assembly and the cam shaft sensor replaced - it's a 2009 auto 2.7 tdv6 HSE...
I think it could be EGR related, but I'd want to do further checks before diagnosing it as that.
Have you considered blanking the valves instead (you'd need a software patch)? I would highly recommend this as the better solution. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

EGR Problems
David
I had this problem with my Disco 3 in 2011. I had just purchased the car and my mechanic took it out for a test drive. It suddenly stalled, wouldn't start up at all, but did the following morning. We limped back home and the garage I purchased the car from took it to a Land Rover Main Dealership, who coincidently change both EGR's. Very expensive job, under warranty for me, but it cured he problem and has not happened since.
