I think DiscoDad did this? I know when he got some LED sidelamps he mentioned it. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

When I fitted front LED side bulbs I tried the old bulbs in the driving light sockets - yes they are wired and work just by putting any W5 bulb in. I presume that these are there for the US market where seems the norm to have orange driving lights.
Quickly removed from mine as I didn't want to fall into the volvo v40 trap of everyone thinking I'm indicating when they see my car from an angle - lots of v40 accidents caused by this at roundabouts apparently. 2005 D3 HSE

We debated this sometime ago and TFC eventually drilled out the blanking piece....the results were mediocre to say the least ..rather than creating a nice orange glow you just get an orange spot on the orange side lens ...I wouldn't bother TBH 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I'm confused
There was no drilling on mine - in fact the empty bulb holders were already wired and in place behind the orange lens? 2005 D3 HSE

Thanks DG - clear now...
We are talking about the same part, mine already had wired socket ready for wedge bulb?
No drilling needed - just need a dim bulb that doesn't give the hot spot.
(little led strip light would be very bling)

Yeah...even though the wired lamp holders seem to be present on all models...the UK units still have the blanking piece preventing their use 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The main number is: XBC500042
