You do need to remove the bumper to fit VPLAP0136 as the plastic connector carrier cannot be fitted otherwise
It was good enough on the D3 to wrap the connectors in a bit of foam and stuff them down the gap
You might consider this as an option if removing the bumper is not desirable.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Just don't use the bracket, wrap the connectors in foam as per the D3 electrics. The bumper does not have to come off otherwise, only to fit the "keeper" bracket.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Martin beat me to it - you only need to remove the bumper if you fit the connector carrier bracket, which in reality you just dont need. Wrap some foam around the 3 connectors just to stop them knocking, and push down below light cluster - job done.

Just followed the info in this thread to fit the electrics, very useful, didn't remove the bumper
Bit infused at first as there was already a wire through the two grommets, turned out it was the aerial for an old trackerMark

Does anyone know how this works on a D3? (59 plate)
I had 2 x 7 pin electrics on my D3 which I wanted to convert to single 13 pin. TLO said that all I needed to replace was the last part of the wiring loom (part LR011211).
Since I have done this, the reverse lights don't work on my caravan.
Anybody know why? or what I have to do to rectify?

If you were using a 12n and a 12s socket before, who converted your caravan to a single 13 pin plug to make it fit the new 13 pin socket you fitted to the car?

So how do you know the original 12s socket was powering the new caravan reversing lights? --edit -- just read you used an adapter!
Is any of the other 12s supplied equipment working in the van such as the 12 volt sockets?
With no battery connected on the caravan do you get a 12v reading from the caravan battery leads when the car with engine running?

I suspect that the car may need a change to the Body control CCF to tell it it's 13 pin now rather than 7 pin with FoglightMark

Does it need to know the change from 2 sockets down to one?
The caravan reversing light should be on the grey supplementary socket with the compulsory fog light being on the more common black 12n socket.
Has the new 13 pin socket been tested with a meter to see if there is a supply to pin 8 when in reverse?

Caravan has been checked out by the dealer. not checked anything on the car as yet, as expected that it should be a straight forward change over. Car going in soon for tow bar check so will get LR to check the settings on the CCF
