Just had the CV gaitors replaced as per this topic, only 1 was leaking due to the obvious holes in the gaitor, now after a week of having my disco back, swmbo has just picked me up from work in it, but on the journey home we can hear a dull knocking sound, from the front end going in time with the wheel rotation, could this be the driveshaft? With it having both gaitors replaced?

I had a front half shaft replaced earlier this year. It had a leaking boot replaced some time ago so had obviously been working itself to bits over time. Easy way to tell - apply lock and with the window down drive forward slowly. An obvious ticking noise that changes rate with speed was evident. I first noticed mine in a multi-storey car park as I turned on to one of the ramps between levels. Made the same noise in reverse by the way. Cost to replace the half shaft by an indie was about £300.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Back to the garage in the morning it is then, still under warranty, so hopefully won't have to stump up on this occasion
