Two-way radio for TDV6S
Guys, if you have a TDV6S and think about installing a two-way radio, maybe consider the GX300 - its a very snug fit - and no need to drill holes etc. Thought this was a good addition - especially since it very nicely fills the space where the sat-nav would be in the SE and HSE. - I am too old school for that - still think my Garmin is better - but what do i know
Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have an HSE so cannot use that location
I'm in the process of installing one of these in the top Glovebox

do you use VHF or uhf in Africa or is the 27Mhz the most common

we use Amplitude modulation (AM) on 29 MHz band stretching from 29.700 MHz to 29.999 MHz

Although 29 Meg is still common , VHF in the 150 meg range is becoming more popular and a frequency has been allocated to ORRA (Off Road Radio Association) although their website doesn't reflect this yet

Where is the best place to install antenna on D3 ?

Well since i have the S, its actually quite easy. I removed the console housing the radio etc, and slipped the antenna wire in behind it, ran it underneath the steering wheel, all the way around the doors to the back. Then through the hole left for the antenna on the HSE models. On the S, its just a plug. On the roof, I mounted it on the frontrunner load bar bracket (just drilled a hole and affixed it). It looks great. I have an antenna which can fold down - to allow for access to parking garages etc. Works like a charm.

Coala - thanks for the advice - I also have the S model and Frontrunner rack - so will do the same.
Just another question do you have one continous length of coaxial cable or is it joined somewhere ?

At the moment it is joined - which is not optimal. Best is to have one custom made for you - that can be easily done. The standard cable is around 2 m too short – it reaches only the rear door (mine runs all the way down the driver side of the car). You will need another two meter or so to allow you enough space to move the antenna around on the track to compensate for when you are driving in front, or following. Also allows you better placing as you pack the roof rack. I do not have a roof rack - opted for load bars which I affixed to my tent (2 bars) and a separate large 4 rino box bag (2 bars). It allows for different configurations depending on how far I travel and easy fitment (takes less than 20 min). Hopes this helps
