hello everyone who reads this.
Read some very helpful posts pn here regarding detent circlip replacement.
Done mine last night,
my method was
jack up car and support with axle stands( concrete blocks)
remove drivers side wheel
steering full left lock
14mm hex socket
universal joint into socket
2 extension bars onto socket
ratchet on end
pipe over ratchet for extra leverage
try and keep bars as level as possible just to free (may not need pipe but i did )
remove spring etc with long magnet
replace circlip
i managed to replace tube and spring with left arm full stretch under wheel arch
same with threaded part
replace hex nut
i did this without removing the under tray, working in the wheel arch
its fiddley but doable, i have very little mechanical skill but i managed it .
i was quoted £630.00 + vat by local gearbox centre. happy days!!
