D4 OEM Rubber mats

Are the D4 rubber mats different?

I've noticed I have a single central locating tab at the rear for the row 2 carpet mats and this doesn't seem to want to be removed.

The rubber mats I have come with self tapping locating lugs which twist to lock the mats in place.

Wondering if my early D4 (late D3) rubber mat set isn't compatible and I need a later version.

Or can the single lugs be removed from the rear carpet easily?

They screw out as far as i'm aware. D3 was twin lug but the mats still fit shape/size wise

Early D3 and late D3 & D4 mats are different - same shape, but different style of fitting.

Early ones use screw in lugs, later one have single central hole and locate on tab

I've bought a set recently for my 2014MY. The part number was VPLAS0252 if that helps. £100 from LRDirect.

Cheers

And that image shows exactly what I mean, thanks Very Happy

Mine are the same as you have there. In the rear of the D4 though I have central locating lugs in the foot wells of seat 3 and seat 5 which the lux mats utilise - just as we have in the front.

The rubber mats for the front make use of the central lug but the rears utilise some new lugs on self tappers and the central lugs are just sitting underneath making a lump.

My question is, do I remove those and if so do they remove easily without me breaking something - or do I need some new set of MY2015 mats and utilise the already fixed, central lugs.

Strange, as a different set up to mine then!

The part number mentioned above and indeed my 2014MY has central lugs on the front mats, but two lugs on the rear of each for seats 3 & 5 (on either side) which match those already fitted in the car. There are no central lugs in the rear. There is then a further self tapper each side near the back of the seats which I've not fitted yet as not sure they're really needed.

Images below. Sorry If this doesn't take you forward.

Cheers Jon

Yes they have changed the lug positions as the older style rubber mat set for late D3 and D4 has central lugs in the carpet row 1 but not for row 2.

At some point 2014, 2015? they must have changed it to cater for the factory installed lugs/hooks that now come pre installed in the rear.

I bought some new ones today, the material is also a bit thin I noticed.
