Did a short few mile run to school this morning, followed by another shorter couple of mile run to the office. Half way through this second run while waiting at traffic lights, I noticed a lot (and I mean a lot) of smoke from the rear and one hell of a smell with it. At the next lights, the smoke also seemed to be coming from under the front of the car and through the grill.
When I was eventually able to stop safely to take some pics, nothing. No signs when I lifted the bonnet and nothing from the rear end.
I think it's unlikely to be DPF regen as I didn't exceed 40mph nor would anything have been warmed up enough for a DPF event. Any other suggestions (apart from getting it booked in)?

Seemed to smell worse than diesel but maybe that's me thinking it did. Will keep an eye out.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! It is a different burning smell from normal diesel exhaust as the combustion process is different
Eyes and nose on the alert for future happenings then. It was colder this morning than it has been for a couple of weeks but, in the near two years of ownership, I've never experienced this.
Still, it kept the usually tailgating 5-Series driver off my ar$e for a mile or so Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Member of Gloucestershire & Worcestershire 4x4 Response.

Mine fired up last week, even though temperature on the dash was 7 - smoked like a steam train for a couple of miles

The subject of many posts - Fuel Burning Heater - diesel powered heater that warms the engine when ambient temperature is about 5 degrees or less and the engine temp is less than 70 degrees ( I think the temperatures are correct)
