Sunroof opening

Hi Guys, I finally got around to opening the sunroof on my Disco 4 (delivered in december 14) and want to check with others on the aperture size when the roof is fully open. On mine it extends approx 2/3'rds of the way then stops - no amount of button pushing or pulling will open it further - is this normal?
thanks Keith

Yes its about normal for that kind of sunroof ie the one where the glass lifts and slides outside the body rather than straight back inside the roof void. The Disco type gets stopped by the hinge/supports which in the latter tuck away into the void. The problem is on the Disco there's not enough space due to the lack of roof void behind the front sunroof.

Yes it'd be nice to have a larger opening, but then you'd loose the glass roof for the second row and/or the stepped roof, so personally I'm happy with the compromise.

Oh well, worst things happen at sea, tbe missus has a new cooper with the same style of roof which behaves much as expected but c'est la vie, the Disco is brilliant elsewhere so i can live with it.
Thanks guys
Keith

You should try the one in the new Disco Sport; it doesn't open at all and can't even be seen from the front seats. I guess we can expect the same in the D5 Sad

I didn't know that, sat in a Disco Sport last week waiting for a new wheel nut socket from the spares dept and thought it was well put together and designed internally (with a nice big sun roof!) - boot is a bit small though and it needs a better engine IMO.
Cheers Keith
