Removable Tow Bar Storage...
Random, so sorry. Is there a specific place to store the tow bar when not in use? I've looked and its not obvious! Black D4 December 2014

5 seat - under the floor.
7 seat - left hand lower cubby (if the stowage insert is fitted)
Robbie's car - keep it in a canvas bag in the garage. I mean, how often do you do unexpected towing?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

1. It'll get stolen
2. It'll corrode in place and get stuck
3. It's removable and only meant for 'occasional' use but that's a bone of contention on here

I had my detachable tow bar replaced under warranty at 2 years old. When collecting the D4 with the new tow bar fitted I was advised in writing to remove the tow bar when it was not in use. I only tow a caravan so when the tow bar is not in use I stow it in a caravan locker together with the towing mirrors.

Same place, pic below from my previous D3 with rear aircon
tow bars not actually in it, as it didn't fit anymore, as it has a maxxraxx bike clamp bracket on it.

Crash safety. Modern vehicles are carefully designed to absorb and distribute the forces of a crash. A tow bar significantly changes how the forces from a rear end shunt are absorbed. Same applies to the vehicle that hits the tow bar.
There's a few studies and other information about this on the net. I always ensure that I remove my detachable tow bar asap after towing.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I did that on my D3 and had to sell it with the car and buy a new one for the D4 - immovable object.
I store the new one on a shelf in my garage, not falling for that mistake again and don't want it shooting forward in an accident.2014MY Discovery

1. it'll corrode in place and get stuck
2. It then won't get stolen

Just grease it up first before fitting, mine acts as a rear protector.
