Auto Tyre Pressue Sensors

Ok Gentlemen,

A challenge for you, though I bet 10forcash will win. How can I tell if my car has the tyre pressure sensors fitted?

BEFORE you ALL jump on your keyboards READ THIS...

I bought the car with winter wheels fitted and turned down the option of taking the "other set" with it, shaving a big lump off the price I paid. This could be the catch, were the wheels I refused the originals and DID they have tyre pressure sensors fitted? That is the question. I have seen a thread saying you can tell by looking at the wheels but as you can see, I may be looking at the "wrong" wheels. Confused

So...how can I find out if my car was delivered from the factory with the Tyre Pressure Sensor option?

The thinking is that if the sensor was fitted the reciever will be present on the car. Therefore the theory being when my tyres need replacing I could get the "missing" sensors replaced on the wheels.

If you have TPMS fitted, there will be an extra button on the upper centre console, you will also have metal valve stems instead of the normal rubber ones.....
If you don't have the correct valve stems fitted, you'll get an error message on the instrument pack at startup

Well I guess not then as I have no extra button in the upper center console, but I do have metal valve stems (stainless steel and ss valve caps too) but I guess that is just bling. Off to look in my manual for a picture of this so called button.

If I find it in the manual, you win free beer if you make it to Germany in September. Thumbs Up

Slightly different so a Tatra truck this week that had been in the Pari Dakar a few years ago this had self inflating tire so you let the pressure out whilst on the move and can be re inflated again Whistle handy for Morocco.

There is still a rubber element to the valve stems, the TPMS ones have a hex head sleeve over part of them instead of the usual rubber 'mushroom' (now I know why Ken doesn't have TPMS Laughing )
