Strange behaviour from D4 touch screen |
|
Strange behaviour from the D4 touch screen - it's happened twice in the last two weeks.
I've turned the car on and selected the radio on one occasion and satnav on the other. But no sound comes out on either occasion.
I then try selecting a radio station to check the sound, but although all the MW/ FM/ DAB options are there, I can only select MW and see the range of stations it has. But again no sound.
So I switch the D4 off, wait a few seconds, and restart it. But the touch screen goes dead - no Land Rover logo or anything - blank screen, and no reponse from touch or buttons.
If I restart again, the screen remains dead.
If I switch off the D4 and wait 30 minutes - (or probably enough time for it to go to sleep) - and then turn the D4 on, everything works fine.
Pain in the proverbial, as I needed to travel through unfamiliar streets of Glasgow to get to a hospital and see my mum. With no satnav, I had to guess the route, and ended up going through the Clyde Tunnel twice - and I didn't need to be anywhere near it .

Hopping on the theme (not intending to hijack the thread)
Mine has started playing up as well just this week. It started to simply go blank, like when I took an incoming phone call this afternoon. The other day I needed to do a tricky reverse (school kids around) and really wanted the video I normally get but all I got was blank with the radio still playing. All the navigation buttons did absolutely nothing at the time
Any ideas? Its still under warranty.

Mine has had a very similar issue but centred around the DAB. It is a known fault with a specific VIN range and is fixed by a software update to the ACM. Ask your stealer to sort it out for you. It take about an hour and a half to update.

How strange, and annoying of course.
Be sure to let us know the outcome as it does appear strange indeed.
If it could be a known fault with a VIN range do we know what VIN range in case the same should inflict others?

The software fix failed to resolve my issues. It ended up being a faulty DAB module, luckily under warranty... Manufacturing defect I might add!
