Feature or fault auto box reverse gear

Evening!

I've had my D4 for just over a week it's my second one but this one seems to have some oddness going on with reverse gear. If you are on a slope select reverse gear and accelerate nothing happens like its slipping or has no bite-it's an auto but best way I can describe it! BUT it doesn't do it all the time and we had thought maybe it was a case of the car having a feature to prevent rolling or lurching on gear changes but less convinced as I can't find any info to suggest it is! Any advice greatly appreciated- thank you!

Terri

Have a look at this, I don't know if your D4 is the same;

Hi Terri, welcome to the forum.

I reverse down our drive everyday and although I've not noticed it on selecting reverse gear, probably coz I start of on the flat. I had had instances of brief rollback on selecting Drive to pull off in the morning but not too often. I suspect it's a case of me being a bit too eager at times and coming of the brake pedal a fraction to quick after selecting D when the autobox is still cold.

It does concentrate the mine though when it happens Laughing

Hmmm I'm not sure either are the same thing. I have no issues selecting gears no tightness at all just when I select reverse from park on a sloped driveway and I accelerate it has a delay like the brakes are on and you feel them release and then the vehicle moves off what's bothering me is that it doesn't do it every time-hope that makes sense!

That is a new feature and not a fault, hill start assist, it will also do it going forward up a steep hill, try it.

Try starting off on the flat without releasing the brake, this should give exactly the same effect, the brake will release automatically when the accelerator is pressed Thumbs Up

Hi Terri, you could do with updating your Vehicle Type in your profile - it's showing as a D3 not a D4. May not seem important but it can help peeps when they answer questions for you in future.

Yep, as above as it confused me, especially when talking about a feature found on D4s but not on a D3!
