NoDo$h wrote:It's the 12s one I was after. 30A perm supply..... Might just do it. Need to read the spec on the compressor. I will never use the 12s for a tintent so figure I can remove that part of the trailer loom and take the perm live feed to the compressor (when I get around to finding a suitable location for it in the back of the car). That then leaves room for an air coupling where the 12s currently sits, just as Christyler has done.
Of course I still need to route an air feed from the compressor to a suitably located receiver. Still think the Viair 2.5 gallon one will be the best bet, mounted opposite the receiver/compressor for the suspension, although haven't spent any time working out how to mount it to the chassis yet. Now I have the Takla I can get the car up a darn site easier, so if it's dry on Thursday......
Cheers Ten! been looking into it a bit more..... if you change the LHS trim for the rear aircon variant, (and assuming you don't have rear aircon) then there should be room for an air receiver & compressor on that side - coincidentally this is where the power supply is Gotta check the wiring diags though as there may be an IGN switched heavier supply there as well
Edit:-
Yep, there's a 30A switched supply there on a 4 way connector, cable size is 3mm, colour is white, fuse is 22E in the BJB although it'll need an earth connection to be made at the rear of the vehicle and possibly a relay in the BJB
There is also an permanent supply (30A fuse 8P in the CJB) on the 4 way connector for the 'S' socket, 4mm green cable, pin 4

That's a beer I owe you I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I am a newbie to D3 and know even less about caravans. What I am interested in is the elctrical features found in a caravan and also possibly used by others for camping.
I want to be able to plug "something" into the supplementary socket which will then charge up some portable lamps that I can use in the evening in a house in spain that has no electric. I will be towing a trailer so can be charging up a battery (put out the way in the trailer) while driving about during the day. If the set-up could run a small fridge or TV then all the better but for now would be happy just to have some lights.
I know I could charge up a few rechargeable lanters/torches during the day from within the D3 but want something a little bit better.
Any pointers in the right direction ?.
cheers

I think you've got a good potential solution there already. Use the socket to charge the battery you have in the trailer (10 which wires need to be connected?) then continue charging/running your 12vfridge/tv etc (or 240v transformer) from the battery in the trailer.
Avoids the need for you to go down the route of having a seperate battery in the D3 and a split charging system.
Oh and welcome to D3! Bodsys Brake Bible

For you none shed-draggers this info from Caravan Club handbook;-
1 = Reversing light
2 = caravan Battery Charging (ignition controlled)
3 = earth return for pins 2 and 4
4 = Interior lights, water pump, permanent supply)
5 = Not used
6 = fridge (ignition supply)
7 = return (earth) for pin 6
Hope this helps.

You lot forgot to mention that the speed retarder and the steering lock (To keep us in the centre lane) is disabled on Disco 3s. My D3 can tow my big 'tin tent' (Aluminium and GRP really!) at a good speed. It's the numptys that tow a fairground ride behind a Nissan Micra that need a good slap!
