2007 DISCOVERY 3 ENGINE FAILURE |
|
Hi.
Help !!!!!!
My discovery 3 has died.
The cam belt tensioner housing cracked / broke resulting in the cam belt coming off.
A friend of mine fitted new housing, tensioner, new belt kit, pinned crank etc and put it all back together to try and determine what damage had been caused.
The crank turns freely by hand so after putting back together tried on key.
Turns over no problem but would not fire.
Done compression test and low on middle cylinder both sides.
Scratching our heads as told its a body off job to remove cylinders and psooibly engine.
Does anyone have any ideas or can recommend anyone in south yorkshire who could supply and fit a recon engine.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Pat

Sorry to hear about yet another oil pump failure...
The compression test shows you probably have at a minimum, valve damage to those cylinders. Your next job should be to remove both heads and work out exactly what damage there is and fix it - hopefully it's isolated to the heads! I believe the easiest way to get the heads off is indeed 'body off', not sure if it's possible to remove them with the body in place. 2008 RRS TDV6 - Chawton White/Black/Lined Oak - 20's, h/k, sunroof - 350K KM.
