105,000 Miles - quick bit of advice please.

I have an 05 Disco 3 and love it to bits. I've decided to hang onto it as opposed to trading it in, which is quite unusual for me at this sort of mileage levels.

(1) I believe that at 105,000 the timing belts need to be changed and general advice is that the oil pump should be switched as well. Is there anything else I should consider?

(Diff, gearbox, transfer box oils were all swapped at around 90k.)

(2) Should I go for genuine Land Rover parts all round or will motor factor/ third party parts do? If genuine Land Rover parts are to be used then is the "Large One" still working in Yeovil?

My local garage is taking care of the work. They have been very good in the past. Other than being a PITA to do is there anything else they should be aware of?

It's 105k OR after 7 years so should have been done, check your service history. Thumbs Up

Secondly, 05 is outside the warning area for pump failure which were slightly more robust than the 07 on pumps, so you should be ok. Thumbs Up

Go for parts supplied by one of the forum sponsors like Advanced Factors. Wink

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense now as to why it was done at 70k miles!!!! It was more to do with being a 7 year old car! So, the next time I should get it done is either 14 years (2019 for me) or 210k miles?

Will the oil pump (even an 05 one) have a good chance of lasting another 2 years/until say 125k miles or should I do that earlier?

Any point in replacing the oil pump without replacing the timing belts?

Sorry for being a PITA.

Your timing belts at due at 14 years or 175000 miles (70000 + 105000)

Next person for the oil pump answer......

personally if you want to keep the car then do the belts (front and back), its better to be pro active than cry later on. regarding the oil pump yes you are out of the danger zone but still worth to replace with the latest model. Regarding belts you can do the LR set or Dayco set but change both rollers of the front belt also.
it is not an expensive exercise to do and will give you piece of mind.

Thanks for that. I need to do the belts within the next 18 months. I'll also change the oil pump at the same time as that should be able to do a further 15k and change both rollers on the front belt as suggested by KostasA.

Many thanks for the help.
