Door lock actuators - would you buy a non-LR part?

Hi,

This weekend my aircon was fixed. Nitrogen pressure test confirms that's one more job off the list. As the mechanic headed into the reception to confirm the work was finished he locked the car which went "beep".

Great. Another job.

The LH rear passenger door has now gone. I replaced Drivers side and RH rear passenger door last year using the genuine Land Rover parts.

Are any of the OEM parts on eBay actually the real thing and worth taking a chance on? I slightly begrudge buying yet more lock actuators. However, I know it's an evening's work to replace and don't want to waste my time. Not carrying any little ones around in the back though...

Cheers,

Andy

I fixed the tailgate mechanism with genuine LR parts. No point going with generic despite the saving as you buy cheap you buy twice. If and when the rear locks go, I'll buy genuine LR.

LR don't make door latches, they buy them in stick a LR numer on them and put a 0 on the end of the price.
You need one of these, do a search on the bay of E, you may have to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive, but it will Thumbs Up
It's the big motor with the worm drive on it, the photo Shows the slots in the motor where it just unplugs, pull the gear off push it on the new motor, plug the motor back in and Bobs your uncle, you just saved £100 Thumbs Up

I actually have 3 of those in a box at home.... I tried replacing the motor end wth the bushes on one of my old actuators. I reassembled and refitted the whole thing and it didn't work... maybe I should try again. I imagine I'll be somewhat quicker removing and reinstalling 3rd time around. Maybe I should connect a 12v source to the motor before and after this time to test it.

To test it plug the actuator in without fitting it in the door, you can even leave the cover off to see what is happening inside the actuator, keep the door open and operate the the lock stiker in the door to make the car think the door is closed, you can then take it through all the motions, i.e. Remote lock/unlock Thumbs Up

Thanks guys.

M3DPO - if I was trying this again I would seek to replace the whole motor and not just the worm gear. I did attempt to remove the worm gear previously but it didn't want to move so I didn't force it. Is it a case of using the force or did you persuade it off some other way?

Thanks,

Andy
