I went to purchase engine oil as recommended by the various boffins on this site. However the vendor cautioned me to find out what oil was currently in the engine as there may be compatibility problems. I have done a lot of research on this site and there are huge amounts of good data wrt engine and other oils. However I do not see any info about incompatibility e.g. if one changes from mineral oil to a synthetic or semi synthetic oil?
I personally believe that if the engine is hot and the old oil is thoroughly drained, there would not be any real problem with incompatibility however I would rather seek advice on this site before I do so.
