I use a 13 pin to 7 pin on my Ifor williams trailer that I tow with the disco. The D3 being 7 pin and the trailer being 13 and had no problems with it. Some of the really cheap one aren't made to the greatest quality so they don't fit very well. But on average the £10 price range seem to be of better quality and that's what I use.

Buy cheap, buy twice.... do you really need it to fail when you have no way of getting another one?

I can recommend the Maypole MP601, about £8 or £9 off the 'bay.

Depends which way you're going though. My recommendation is from 13 pin on the car to 12N for the trailer. I don't have experience of the other way round, but can recommend Maypole branded stuff.

I had a 13 to 7 supplied by VW for my T5 (it was very expensive from vw) never had any problems, but it was an ugly long contraption, in fact it's still in the shed.

I've got one like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Towing-Electric-...27e60a3cf7, used it for about a year now with the light board for the bikes & the little trailer's light board. Never given me any problems.
