Breaking news: Stratstone Warranty
Contacted local Stratstone to buy a year 5 extended warranty for our Freelander. Stratstone have stopped selling LR extended warranties and now sell a Stratstone warranty. It has a special feature though that will be of great use to all LR drivers...........
It is invalidated by ANY off road use. Even a grassy field.
What a bizarre stupid product. It sounds like the sort of thing you buy for a Rover 200 rather than a LR.
Contacted another dealer who will never see the car and bought a LR one.

Just out of interest BCP how much was the quote for the warranties, both S...stone and the LR? I'm thinking about extending as the chumbucket2 is on a 05 plate and having done a few mods to it I'm thinking of keeping her for a long time..........

It is hardly miles from nowhere - it's only a few hundred yards

A lot of dealer networks have enforced their own warranty policies over the year. What S stones are doing is just cashing in.
I had a similar issue with my last car, a Mitubishi Evo. The dealer sells these as a fun car, that can be used day to day and then driven on track as a hobby. They even encourage you by setting up dealer trackdays to bring your own car aong and get tuition.
But never try and claim for anything after you do as it's
"Oooh' you track your car sir, don't you!?"
"It's not covered after trackwork"
"We've seen you on track and you are a bit fast, and chuck your car about Sir!"
I was left sitting pretty with a £2.5k bill for a new Yaw control pump, although I forced the issue and got it paid out...eventually.
So the S stone con will be there for folk who will never use it.
I bet another proviso to the deal would be it needs to be serviced by them and no other dealer to be valid, at their inflated prices.
