Possible to replace outer cv boot in situe? |
|
Have had a bit of a battle this weekend with a stretch over CV boot that simply didn't stretch! Have had to put on a stick together one and want to do right next time.
Know hub all comes apart and drive shaft slides out ok. My question is, how does the CV joint come away from the shaft and is it possible to do in place or do I need to drain diff oil and remove whole shaft.
MOT Saturday so may need to find the time or pay..... How many hours job?
I assume Land Rover kit comes with everything I need?
Thanks
Mat

Hi Mat
Did you manage to get this job done yourself? I've just been searching the forum as I have a cracked front outer CV boot and was hoping you could post some tips and tricks!
Thanks

Have to admit - I asked at MOT garage and they only wanted £40 to do as have a stretch over tool. Decided wasn't worth the effort after failing first time.
Inspired that Nasha managed it!

Thanks, but considering you need to strip the front bearing assembly out and all that goes with that job, plus replace the hub stake nut(I hope they did ) for a few quid then £40 is a good deal.
