It's under a cover on the lower edge of the front bumper. Just unclip the plastic and it's there.
Instructions might even be in the manual, although I never read it so can't confirm!2014 D4 XS

The front recovery point is hidden under the black plastic cover beneath the bumper. The cover is held on with plastic half-turn screws that can be undone with a coin.

Don't use the tow bar as a recovery point!
Dunc took a fair bit of trim off his to check the front recovery point:

It's wise to take off the access panels to both front and rear recovery eyes before you go off-road.
And make sure whatever ropes / shackles you get are from a reputable source and rated higher than you think you need....
One last tip - after tightening the shackle back off the pin a fraction before towing - otherwise you'll need tools to loosen it.I see no ships........

^^This is good advice ^^
Always make sure both points are accessible before going off road, in fact just leave the covers at home that day.
Nobody likes having to dig around in mud to unclip those little things and you'll end up getting frustrated and snapping them off then regretting it later.

If you're likely to venture off-road a bit, it's worth binning the front towing eye cover and investing in one of Uncle Rays sump plates, this leaves the tow eye permanently exposed but provides protection to the intercooler.

Thanks for the help, I ve booked myself afternoon on the drive tommorow to prepare.
I think I will look at a permanent "point out" cover for the front, although that little treat might have to wait till I come back from sea!!!
