These LEDs looks killer, I have 4 of them and the results are amazing, super bright, super expensive (50$ each) and they look nice behind the lens
more pics coming soon...

Side and Stop/Tail LEDS
For anyone reading the thread for the 1st time the currently available part numbers are:
white sidelight wedge = U5019W
red stop/tail = U38020R
The discount code DISCOVER10 still works
Just ordered a pair of each of the above but now looking at the handbook, the diagram for the rear light cluster shows a stop/tail and also a tail on each side. The book only shows the replacement bulb for the stop/tail (P21/5watt) but no reference to the replacent bulb for the tail. Are there 2 x stop/tails on each side? If so I need to order another pair of the U38020Rs. Maybe someone can help me out here.
Also, I'm pretty sure that I've read somewhere that when some car's electrics systems test flash all the bulbs to test the resistance, bulbs can be switched off if any are found not to be correct. Has anyone experienced this problem with the ones supplied by Ultraleds? Also, if one of the LEDs fail, does the bulb failure warning still appear?
When I fitted some LEDs (not supplied by Ultraleds) to my 300 tdi a while back, they would only work when fitted one way due to polarity. Is this an issue with the Ultraled ones?

You'll need 2 x stop/tails for each side - but only the top two are used for stop (but it's the same bulb and fitting in both).
I've had no problems with my UltraLeds - and have U38020Rs at the back and U5019Ws at the front and number plate.
Finally - yes - they do have polarity, but you only need to worry about this for the front sidelights (the stop/tails can only be fitted one way).
When I fitted mine, I made sure that I tested the front LEDs whilst the front lights were hanging from the car, to make sure I had the correct polarity before putting everything back together.
Hope this helps!Rob aka gringle

Hi Rob - thanks, very helpful. I assume no issues then regarding the initial electrical system check and that I'll get a warning if one of my new LEDs blow
Phil, there's no bulb failure warning on the Disco3. I know, I know, not what you expect from a £30k car. You can picture the CANBUS system sat there muttering "brain the size of a planet and they expect me to check if the bulbs work....."I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Thanks for putting me in the picture - have only had the D3 for a few weeks and haven't finished reading through the handbook yet!
Every car I've bought in the last 10 years or so has had a bulb failure warning system (some warning systems more sophisticated than others I admit). I just assumed that the D3 would have one! We live and learn!!

But at least with the LED's, they 'shouldn't' blow.
I think it will be interesting to see the new LED rear light clusters when they get to The Large One, I'm sure he'll post the relevant information....... Bodsys Brake Bible
They may not blow in the traditional sense, but I've had two U5015HPWs fail on me within days of each other. First one of the 5 leds on the cluster started to flicker, then another and so on until it looked like I was impersonating a police officer. Finally all bar the led on the tip of the cluster failed.
"Aha!" you say (go on, say it, you know you want to) "but there is a 1 year guarantee on these LEDs"
Yarp, there is, but only if you can find your invoice number and return the item within 7 days of telling them there's a problem. Not being in the habit of keeping invoices and confirmation emails for items costing a tenner I wasn't able to do this so no refund or replacement for me.
Strikes me as being a somewhat onerous warranty condition when they have records of all my purchases, but if that's how they want to play it then there's not a lot I can do about it.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Would like to see pics of one side with these LED's in and the otherside with normal bulbs to see if there is any difference n brightness, as I have found that the LED bulbs don'e seem to give out the same light output, and that the brake lights are a bit dull - especially in the daylight......
