Was it booked in for the service action or just to look at why it wouldn't fit though?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

It was booked in for the service action. He said they'd look at the towbar, check the socket for any play, check the cross member, and if needed fit a fixed towbar,"but either way you'll be leaving with a towbar" he said. I'll drop Pete a PM and see what he suggests. Thanks both

Job done
Got my disco back from its five day holiday and much admit they have done a top job. gave me back the chunk of metal they removed..
Very nasty looking
They trusted me with this for the five days, very nice but not my disco
Had mine replaced last month and they just gave me a new removeable one. Did some towing for the first time since then today and when I went to put the new bar in there is no plastic blank in there. Seeing as you now have to remove the towbar when not towing, shouldn't that have been fitted?

Despite reading a lot of pages I'm a little confused by this. I bought my D3 in March and have not had a recall letter yet. I know I can call LR and get it booked in to be checked. The question is what happens then...
A friend has had his checked - it passed (he tows a horsebox regularly) but has a supplement to the manual saying he can only tow 150kg. He now has to buy a full fixed bar. His neighbours' failed and got a fixed bar supplied by LR. (Same garage).
I only tow a couple of times a year, a camping trailer may be a caravan, nothing bigger than that so don't really want a fixed bar. If it passes then I want to be able to use the removable bar. If it fails then I guess I get a fixed bar and attach it when I need it.
Surely if it passes then it is fit for purpose not limited to 150kg - that's the bit that confuses me.
Any clarification would be appreciated.

Checked if our D4 needed to be inspected and was told by LR it is not in the series to be inspected. I told them the tow hook was from our D3 and swapped over by our local LR dealer but this just confused the lad at LR customer services; he sounded very young. I sent both chassis numbers via PM to Pete, who confirmed neither are in the mod series. Like you, I am a bit confused as to why ours is not part of this program as others on the forum of a similar age/model are. If somebody can tell us why some are and others aren't, I would love to know.

Had mine checked before Xmas, (it failed) kind of expected that as it failed the MOT for it being loose a few days previously. They say it just needs the fixed height one fitted, Been told by dealer that fixed height towbars are on backorder with no delivery date. Anyone else had this?

towbar recall
hi
has anyone heard off this ,
I was talking to a chap today who had his towbar upgraded as a recall due to the swan neck coming loose and falling off, sounds bizzare but that apparently happens.
I looked at his new towbar and was very impressed apparently its a £600 landrover genuine part.
so I proceeded to ring my local dealer and told them I was having similar problems, they checked the reg and to my great disbelieve said the towbar recall was the only recall outstanding on my car.so its now booked in with them also going to give it a health check and any software updates.
plus a courtesy car .
