I am quite happy to use the removable one, my concern is if they find the socket etc not worn (it's was allegedly never used for towing till we got it a year ago) does the note in the handbook restrict what you can tow, we at times use the D3 to tow to near its max and what is the future potential for wear?==================================

I've had a fixed three height one fixed instead of my detachable as they said there were signs of play, and they've cut the trim (badly) to fit it.
Mine had some sort of bodykit on it as it was one of the last of the 3s.
I have a complaint in now as I specifically queried what they would do to the trim before it was fitted and they told me it was all standard and would fit round. Complaint is acknowledged and we're working towards resolution amicably but what do you think I should expect?
Seems to me there must be some trim that goes on around it? They want to just put an edging strip on the cut.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Just had a video report from the garage, fixed towbar fitted, nothing to report on the health check.
Forgot to say thought it was quite amusing when I took it in and the guy on the service desk said we don't see many proper engined ones
Just collected, I didn't recognise it initially, they have given it a full valet, the wife reckons it wasn't this clean when I brought and it doesnt arf look good think I might have to have this done more often!==================================

Mine went in today and took about 10 minutes. They couldn't get the towbar off so have booked it in again for next month to replace it.

The chap on the service desk at Conwy Land Rover said they put a gauge in that measures the amount of wear, green is a pass, red is a fail, I mentioned mine wiggles a bit and he said they are supposed to, the key area they are checking is where the lock latches, which suggests it can't be done with the bar in situ.==================================

Evntually sorted
Well, after weeks of haggling to get it sorted, tow bar issue resolved.
I didnt want fixed one (that was the reason why I bought the retractable). LR would not change sub frame to enable me to have a retractable one fitted... So, after a healthy discount, I bought a new one with a retractable tow bar!!!
A bit of an over kill, but I was looking to change in a year, with the good discount and a good trade in value, I decided to stay with the perfect car.
All for a tow bar

Mine went in on Friday. Removable bar well within limits. Car all cleaned and vacuumed. The service manager had some favourable comments about my garmin nav install and black 18 spoke rims.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Had my Q393 inspection done at Hunters, Kings Lynn. Turned up for my appointment 10 minutes early, car was expected, I was told how long it would take and declined the car wash offer. I explained timing was tight due to other commitments. Car was ready as promised (passed), visual health check carried out and advised about number plate bulb failure. Otherwise all good. Very polite, very professional, painless and stress free. Excellent.

My inspection was carried out today and I must say they did a wonderful job of cleaning the interior and the wheels look nice too.
Test passed and lots of green ticks on the health check, so all good.
I was a little surprised to find I wasn't asked any questions about what I tow, but as I don't tow anything heavy it doesn't matter.
I was annoyed to find they had clearly gone through the centre storage box as the iPhone I keep in there for my IID tool was in the cup holder.
But otherwise very pleased, so there clearly is a first for everything!Andy

Booked in at Matford Exeter yesterday, wife took it in said a chap just came out to look at the rear and did nothing else. A note has been made on the system that we are owed a wash and no health check done.
Stunned at reading the different levels of service people are getting

My experiance of the towbar recall certainly has been mixed.
Letter received, booked into Guy Salmon Stockport. Because I use my Disco 4 for work, and use it for towing a trailor and twin axel caravan. I was informed that mine had failed the test, and a fixed adjustable version would be installed.
6 or so weeks later, disco dropped off, courtesy car and an expected 5 day turn around, mainly due to the rear crossmember being replaced.
3 days in, here comes the call, they have put a parts request into LR for a replacement bracket that they have removed. And theres none in UK stock and a possible wait till December.
At this point im getting rather worried. Several phone calls over the next few days, and im now assured it will be with them mid next week. Thats 2 and a half weeks from dropping it off. Plus the additinal few days to finish the job. A probable 3 weeks without my car.
The lady whos been dealing with me has been top notch. Constant updates and an honest approach. Even managed to get me a swap into a disco with a towbar fitted.
My issue is this shouldnt take this long, why hasnt the braket been ordered prior to the job, why did they remove the braket, as ive been told theres a new bulletin where the removal isnt required. Another disco came in the same day, and is out without the braket being removed.
My feeling is someone has made a big mistake. And as a result im without my car for possibly over 3 weeks.

Ste's profile says 2009. It must be one of the very earliest D4s. Sounds like it's done a lot of towing over the 6 years. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.
