Had mine checked out today at Guava and have been i informed it needs a multi height fixed towbar, being that I leave my removable one in permanently I don't have a problem with that. Is the main reason some people don't want a fixed one because they looked unsightly as to me a fixed one has got to be stronger ?D3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

Just had mine checked today and replaced with heavy duty towbar, all done in 60mins.
Doesn't protrude anymore than the original and never took the detachable one off anyway. The chap also said I have saved myself £800 by having the heavy duty one fitted as part of the recall. Discovery3 TDV6 GS

However I was also informed as part of the free health check that I need rear brake pipes and a prop shaft
Oh well the free coffee was nice and James ( at Guava ) was superb even when my boxer dog jumped all over his crisp white shirt D3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

conman69, did they provide the large drop plate and nuts and bolts ( pictured a few posts ago, upside down), so you could position the tow ball at one of three heights if you wanted to ? They obviously have not bothered to fit it for you. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Probably the most common, but the departure angle for off-roading or if, like Clive, you have two Discos and one towbar are other reasons.

Yes, found that part in the boot when I got home.
I don't think it needs installing unless you need to drop the towbar down closer to the ground (300mm).Discovery3 TDV6 GS

Well hopefully they gave you the full kit, I don't like to see dealers short changing people. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. Cheers for the pics. Yours seems different to the earlier pictured one which has adjustable height. They have told me that will be the one that's fitted tomorrow. Your right though same as you mine never comes off. And it doesn't stick out anymore than the other.

There is another part to it which wasn't installed, (drop plate) like the previous photos you mention. It depends what height is required for your vehicle.Discovery3 TDV6 GS

hi guys, i would like to point out, that if anybody does not want a multi height towbar, you DONT HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!!if you want to keep the car as is you can , just contact customer care and they will sort it for you
You just need to tell the service dept when you book in

How much work is it to take the fixed one off? I am guessing a couple of bolts and undo the receiver lock.==================================

Just had mine fitted and yes it looks like a few bolts and then the locking mechanism. Happy with it to be fair doesn't look to bad at all. Dealer forgot to wash it or do health check but still.
