Rain sensor not working

My rain sensor on my new (ex demo) MY14 isnt working.

Got a call from the dealer (different to the supplier) saying the windscreen isnt correct and is more tinted than it should be, causing the rain sensor to not work.

Apparantly the glass doesn't have LAND ROVER stamped on it, so it seems like the main dealer I purchased from replaced the glass with something non landrover!

Waiting for a call back from the supplying main dealer to try and get some answers as this is a bit concerning, but wondered if this can really cause the rain sensor to not work and just behave like an old fashioned intermittant wiper with adjustable delay....

Anyone any experience of this?

I had a Mercedes c32 and had a ECU change on it. The repairer didn't reactivate the rain sensor in the ccf after replacement so behaved like a normal intermittant wiper until I reactivated it.

Mine was all over the place, sometimes it worked for a few minutes sometimes not at all.

Then my battery failed, dead flat. I guess this worked like a hard reset because it's been perfect since I put in a new battery Thumbs Up

I can't think they'd put in a windscreen with so much tint it could effect a sensor?

I find it hard to believe. Supplying dealer has said that it was replaced by autoglass.

The local main dealer say they LandRover wont entertain a warranty claim on the rain sensor as it is a non genuine windscreen (first part of diagnosis).

Supplying dealer will speak to Local dealer on Monday - hopefully they will just get the glass replaced with genuine Land Rover glass.

I suspect it may not be a MY14 windscreen, but havent got the car back yet to look.

It's a poor show if they're arguing over parts they fitted on a my14 car. Ex demo or not I'd be Evil or Very Mad

Hope it's sorted quickly Thumbs Up

England

Colleague had exactly the same problem with her BMW last month. Autoglass changed for an "equivalent" and her sensor stopped working. Two weeks later they had to come back and swap it. Cost her time to take it to the dealers, but no apology from Autoglass.

The glass which has been fitted:

Compared to the side window glass

Interestingly I thought from reading here that my14 cars had another widget for humiduty on the windscreen, but mine hasn't

And my son decided to photo bomb when I did it... Very Happy

New windscreen fitted by dealer and humidity detector reinstated (it was stuffed behind the sunroof light cluster). Genuine glass fitted.

Rain sensor now working and windscreen no longer misting up. Thumbs Up

They blame the windscreen fitters, but why was a main dealer not supplying the windscreen glass for their own demo car? You'd think buying a ex demo car would be a surefire thing, but live and learn....
