United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Atacama SandDiscovery 3
Tow bar

Hi all I'm looking to purchase my first D3 been looking at various models, most of the models seem to have tow bars attached, would this put any of the members off when purchasing? I know the discos are a beast but always though to avoid vehicles that have been used to tow?
Cheers

I'd say it's a bonus
If it's a removable one try taking it out to check it's not stuck.
Not the end of the world though as it could still be freed off

Thumbs Up

If its an Auto, ask questions about how often/what its towed, and check the autobox carefully

If its a manual, ask questions about the clutch, and if they used low box

Well come the the mad mad world of LR ownership then Thumbs Up

TBH if you want to buy a vehicle which hasn't towed avoid a D3. That is what they are good at and the word supreme just doesn't do them justice.

If you view / test a D3 with removable towbar check it for play - you could even use this as a bargaining tool. Have a look on here about known issues with these towbars and just because it has some play doesn't mean the car has been abused.

My advice is that there are many more important things to worry about so if you find a car that suits and everything else stacks up then buy it regardless of towbar or not.

Only my very un-professional opinion you understand but my D3 ownership was nothing but enjoyable and yes - it towed lots and lots of heavy loads.

Best of luck!
