how did you get the Irish reg?
Didn't you just tell us?

Or is that the "new" reg? Would have thought it would have been given a mainland plate If it was re-registered here.

Whoops, yes. I've been a bit stupid there. That is the Irish plate.
Just had a fruitful conversation with Donnelly's about its servicing and work. They suggest it has been well-cared for and it's had a few important bits done over the last few years.

Hi all,
I've arranged for an indy specialist to check over the beast on thursday. I'm just wondering if the collective wisdom of the forum could help come up with a list of questions or specific items I should ask him to look for? I would hope he would cover everything anyway but would feel better if I was preared myself.
Thanks for your time !

A service book full of stamps and nothing else would be taken with a pinch of salt by me TBH. Somebody who says they work at the garage also has free access to just 'borrow' a stamp to suit their own ends......
Unless it can be verified by the dealer then it didn't happen and if that was dodgy what would that tell you about the 'story' being told and the person selling it
Garages issue printed receipts with mileage and reg's on and it's these that give the provenance and 'value' to the "full history" often spouted off.
You've only got to look at eBay to see the "make your own stamps" advertised and it's rife.
I've bought cars and 'bikes without back-up paperwork with an eyes-wide-open approach and balanced on price, etc.
Once they've had a few owners and/or post 3-4 years old its the back-up paperwork that's important not the stamps in the book

Yes, thanks.
I was wary of trusting the seller in that sense, and people here have been very helpful. I spoke at length with the lr dealership where the stamps came from and they talked me through their records, which reassuringly matched the book, and I got more detail on the nature of work carried out. This has been incredibly helpful.

Well, had the inspection carried out today, with the following results:
1. Front lower suspension arms bushes worn
2. Air suspension compressor faulty
3. Front brake discs and pads worn
4. Drive belt tensioner suspect
5. EGR valves faulty
6. Handbrake adjustment/clean required
7. Brake light out
8. Service due
The dealer said before they would put right anything that needed sorting. Wonder if they will stick to that pledge after seeing this list?! Will have to see....!
Any thoughts?
PS. The guy said he would blank off the EGR valves, is this a common/ok solution?
Cheers, james

Looks like they're covering their costs then.......
If you don't buy it any new buyer can be told "it's just had £2000 [at retail prices] of work done".
Be an interesting conversation to see if they'll honour the original price to you and do the work in the price. Me thinks not......

Yeah, I accept that, but this is the only vehicle out of 15 that has had its price increased....

Sounds suspiciously like they are trying to offset some of the repair costs doesn't it.
I'd be looking for a healthy discount or looking elsewhere. I've seen some beautifully looked after D3's selling on here.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.
